‘SNL’: Kristen Wiig Sings About The History Of Thanksgiving In Hilarious Opening Monologue

She’s back! Kristen Wiig returned to the iconic studio of ‘Saturday Night Live’ for the Nov. 19 episode, serving as the superstar host for a spectacular show! Known for her comedic chops, the actress showed off her vocal prowess and delivered a hilarious opening monologue!

Kristen Wiig, 43, made her grand return to New York City to host SNL for the second time in her life on Nov. 19, surpassing all expectations! For her opening monologue, she avoided political talk entirely, transitioning into a Thanksgiving inspired song, which her “family sings every year.” She took the audience on a trip down memory lane, beginning with a musical number about the history of the holiday. “The Pilgrims charged everyone a Thanksgiving feast, but Sacagawea used her coin and said this ones on me, then vikings showed up on a double-decker bus, and said ‘if we don’t eat turkeys, they’re going to eat us.’ And that’s why we eat turkey!” Steve Martin and Will Forte even stopped by to check her facts, since of course, her references were a little off!

The comedian has a reputation for slaying with her iconic characters on the hit NBC comedy sketch series, so fans were already tweeting about her appearance long before she came on, hoping to see some of their favorites like Gilly, Dooneese and Target Lady. She’s even portrayed reality stars and TV hosts like Kathie Lee Gifford before, so she isn’t afraid to get the crowd enticed with some funny pop culture references. It’s been a while since Kristen graced the iconic 8H stage, as her first run was back in 2013. We couldn’t wait to see her team up with her former Ghostbusters co-stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones yet again, since all three ladies are an absolute riot, especially when together. Fans also got a taste of Kristen’s new pixie hair cut!

Kristen has definitely been on a roll lately, especially with her CNN inspired sketch. She’s always delivering the audience with much-needed laughs, thanks to her wild and fearless antics. We love how she also portrayed Aunt Sue again. The actress was joined by The xx, who served as the musical guest for the evening, making it one epic show! After last week’s stellar roster, featuring Dave Chappelle and A Tribe Called Quest, we know the holiday lineup will be spectacular!
