Apple Might Delay iPhone 8 Launch to October or November, Report Says

Apple is known to be working on an anniversary iPhone 8, one that would bring major design changes and exciting new features. However, the launch date of the upcoming phone is quite uncertain, some analysts believe that it might arrive in September, while a recent report says that Apple might delay the unveil to November.

For the past few years, Apple announced its newest iPhones during an event in September, while the phones reached shelves a couple of weeks later. Some reports have stated that the company could adopt the same move with this year’s lineup.

However, Digitimes cites an EDT report saying that the iPhone 8 launch was delayed to October or even November, because of technical issues related to the lamination of OLED displays, as well as the adoption of 3D sensing front camera system.

iPhone 8 could still be announced in September

This isn’t the only report that suggests a later launch date for the upcoming iPhone. In early March, there was word that Apple intended to delay the iPhone 8 announcement because of low production yields for the 3D front camera. In addition, Barclays analysts stated that Apple could announce the iPhone 8 in September and release a small batch of devices, while a larger batch would be made available sometime in the last quarter of the year.

Some even said that production for the iPhone 8 won’t start until September, while Apple A11 chips are expected to be produced starting next month.

Even though the iPhone 8 might hit shelves in November, this doesn’t stop Apple from unveiling the phone during its September event, together with the upcoming iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. It’s worth mentioning that the retail name of the phone isn’t confirmed at this point.

The iPhone 8 will be the first Apple smartphone with an OLED display, while the other two iPhones set to be announced this year, will come with LCD screens. The phones are also said to feature wireless charging and a bezel-less front.
