Carson unveils memorial wall to honor longtime sheriff’s deputies

Six Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies who served lengthy careers at the Carson station were honored Tuesday with a memorial wall outside City Hall.

Honorees include Lawrence Lavieri, who was fatally shot by a suspect he was attempting to question at a gas station in 1983; Constance Worland, who was killed when her partner accidentally shot her in the side as they were securing a shotgun in its car mount in 1981; and Walter Hannan, who was killed in a traffic accident while trying to assist another deputy in 1978.
