Community Mourns Loss of Fallen Sergeant


Residents and members of the law enforcement community left candles, flowers, flags and even a hand-written note outside the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station to honor a veteran sergeant of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Sgt. Steven Owen, 53, was shot and killed by an armed burglar Wednesday. Mourners attended a vigil Wednesday night to honor him, and people continued to arrive at the station to pay their respects Thursday. Owen served the department for 29 years.
