FI-NAL-LY! iPhone Owners Can Use PayPal in the App Store

Apple today announced that PayPal would be added as a supported payment method for content in the App Store, iTunes, and Apple Music, with customers in Canada and Mexico to get it first. The United States and other countries will get this soon, the company says.

As some users recalled, PayPal has previously been available for Apple users, though support appeared to be very limited until the feature was eventually pulled, with only a limited number of users in specific markets still being able to connect with PayPal.

Starting today, however, PayPal will be offered as a supported payment method for apps, games, and music, alongside the traditional credit card that you can add in your account when setting it up.

One Touch support also offered

Apple customers with an existing account need to make only a small change in their Account Settings to enable PayPal, though it goes without saying that the configured PayPal account needs to be linked to a credit card to be able to process payments.

“Once PayPal has been selected, all future purchases with the customer’s Apple ID will be automatically charged to their PayPal account. This includes purchases of apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books, as well as Apple Music subscriptions and iCloud storage,” PayPal explains.

Additionally, PayPal lands on Apple devices with One Touch support, which is a feature that the payment service offers to laptops, tablets, and smartphones for quick payments by securely storing all data on the device. This means that whenever you want to make a payment using the same device and the same browser you no longer have to input your credentials every time.

The addition of PayPal in the App Store comes just at the right time, as Apple is rolling out a new interface as part of the iOS 11 update due in September. The new store can already be tried out by users who installed beta builds of iOS 11, though more refinements are likely to be implemented until the final version goes live.
