Rosa Barrientos, 21, of Los Angeles, and Maria Inzunza, 25, of Hollywood, have both been arrested on suspicion of murder, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release. They are being held on a combined bail of $2 million dollars.

Barrientos and Inzunza were taken into custody shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Beachwood Drive in Hollywood, according to Detective Steve Castro of LAPD’s North Hollywood Homicide Unit.

The two women were arrested in connection to the killing of 61-year-old Mohammed Kalam, who was fatally shot late Friday night at the A & D Liquor Mart located in the 12600 block of Sherman Way, police said.

Officers responded to a report of an apparent robbery at the store and found Kalam, an employee, with a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. He died at the scene.

Two people were seen fleeing the store, apparently without taking any money or merchandise.

Castro told KTLA he was “certain” that charges would be filed against the two women. The case has been turned over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

LAPD continues to investigate the fatal shooting, and anyone with information has been asked to call Castro at 818-374-1925.

Callers can also dial 1-877-527-3247 during non-business and weekend hours. Those wishing to leave a tip anonymously should contact L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the website http://www.lacrimestoppers.org.
