Marshes Fire Forces Evacuations in Tuolumne County

A wildfire burning in California’s Tuolumne County grew to 930 acres Tuesday morning, forcing evacuations and road closures. The fire, dubbed the Marshes Fire, remains at zero containment. Highway 49 is closed from the town of Moccasin to Coulterville, and there is no estimated time for it to reopen. The wildfire was sparked about 12:15 p.m. Monday near Marshes Flat Road, north of Don Pedro Reservoir, in the town of Moccasin, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office said. At least 14 homes in the Moccasin Ranch Estates were evacuated, Cal Fire spokesperson Lindy Sheff said.
