Possible car-to-car shooting shuts down 10 Fwy in Fontana

FONTANA, Calif. (KABC) —

Both directions of the 10 Freeway in Fontana were shut down early Friday as authorities were investigating a possible car-to-car shooting, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The incident was reported at about 4 a.m. near Cherry and Citrus avenues on the 10 East.

Footage from AIR7 HD showed deputies approaching a crashed truck with a possibly armed person inside, as well as a dog. It appeared the person in the vehicle was injured and emergency crews were responding.

Due to the person possibly being armed, both directions of the freeway were temporarily shut down as Fontana police, San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies and CHP officials responded to the scene.

By 6 a.m., the westbound lanes were reopened. The 10 East was expected to remain shut down well into the morning.

No further information was available.
