The Gasoline Porsche Macan Won’t Live Past 2024
Macan product line boss Sebastian Staiger was asked about the future of the Macan and suggested that it will be replaced by an all-new electric model in just three years. “There are several limiting factors in a vehicle project,” said Staiger. “One of these factors, of course, is legislation. Emission laws are another limiting factor. Today, no final decision has been taken, but we assume 2024 will be the year.” By 2024, Staiger was referring to the switchover date between the current Macan and an all-new electric model.
Considering that the new electric Macan may not be called the Macan at all, that would mean that the nameplate would only have been used for around 10 years. As of today, the Cayenne has been in production for close to 20 years and the Panamera first rolled off the production line in 2009.
