This Is Fun: Qualcomm Says Samsung Galaxy S8 Has Better Dual Camera than iPhones

We’re only a few hours away from the moment Apple takes the wraps off the super-anticipated iPhone X, and just like expected, there are companies out there that are trying to crash Apple’s party.

One of them is Qualcomm, the chip maker that has decided to go to war against Apple due to a series of what it calls patent infringements, requiring the US authorities not only to force Cupertino to pay a fortune in damages, but also to ban the iPhone completely.

Now Qualcomm has published a blog post to highlight just how powerful the Android ecosystem is, emphasizing that many of the new features that are available on devices powered by Google’s mobile operating system are actually based on its technology.

But the blog post was actually full of errors, including incorrect claims that the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a dual-camera system.

“Qualcomm Technologies has enabled some notable world firsts on Android, and some remain Android exclusives to this day,” the firm says before naming the features that launched on Android ahead of the iPhone.

But while Qualcomm doesn’t specifically mention Apple in its blog post, the company does include a reference to the iPhone.

“Inventions from Qualcomm lay the foundation for so many technologies and experiences we value in our smartphones today — on Android and other platforms,” the company said (emphasis is ours). “The vibrant Android ecosystem is built on Qualcomm inventions and our industry enabling horizontal model,” the firm continued.

HTC One M7, “first phone with dual cameras”

The funny thing is that the table published by Qualcomm in the original blog post and supposed to highlight the innovations that it brought to Android devices included several errors, such as the HTC one M7 as the first model that launched with a dual-camera system.

After noticing the mistakes, Qualcomm fixed the table and is now listing the HTC M8, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and… the Samsung Galaxy S8 as devices that come with dual-camera tech. Once again, there’s an error, as the Galaxy S8 does not feature a dual-camera system.

Apple will introduce 3 different iPhone models today, namely the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X, as well as the new Apple Watch Series 3, and a 4K Apple TV.
