VW Gets Us Pumped For An ID.Buzz Pickup

The ID.Buzz, Volkswagen’s first mass-produced electric minivan is constructed on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) and can seat between five and seven people depending on the layout. The ID.Buzz promises tons of practicality, and is aimed at those with large families and active lifestyles, or small businesses looking for a green transport solution. So what better way to enhance the product than by offering a pickup version? In a recent interview, VW Group of America CEO Scott Keogh revealed that the company was seriously looking at offering an electric pickup.

“It’s something we’re actively looking at, but nothing to actually report now. I think it’s the chance of a lifetime in this segment because electrification gives you a reset moment. It gives you a chance to bring some, let’s say alternatives and some new ideas into this great segment.”

The company is currently working with Ford Australia to develop an EV variant of its popular Amarok compact pickup truck.
